Arlington, Va., February 8 2024 – The Essential Minerals Association (EMA) today released the following statement following the release of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) revised rule that lowers the National Ambient Air Quality Standards for fine particulate matter (PM2.5) to 9 micrograms per cubic meter:
“The Biden Administration continues to enact unrealistic and unachievable standards that hinder American industry, especially the minerals industry and all the downstream businesses that rely on essential minerals,” said Chris Greissing, EMA president. “Manufacturing in the United States is already under strain from an overly onerous permitting process. Instead of working with industry to meet the demand for minerals used in all facets of manufacturing, the federal government is placing more demands on American businesses and communities. EMA will continue to push back on these restrictions and help move the mining industry and the economy forward.”
