Darrell Smith has been active in the public policy arena since 2002 and has represented the advocacy concerns of the mining, petroleum and chemical industries. Most recently, Darrell was the President & CEO of the National Waste & Recycling Association. Darrell has a strong background in environment, sustainability, health, and safety and has excelled in representing highly hazardous industries with large environmental footprints. Darrell is especially skilled in helping industry present a positive and responsible image. Prior to his public policy career, Darrell worked in a variety of industrial sectors. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Public Health and a Master’s of Science in leadership from The Citadel, a Master’s of Public Health from the University of South Carolina, and a Ph.D. in environmental conflict from George Mason University. Darrell is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and Certified Association Executive (CAE). Darrell is originally from South Carolina.
